A Collosal Day

After a warm but restful night we set out from Farfa Llone's (pronounced like Far-fah--loan-a) house to find coffee, the Colosseum, money, and wi-fi.  The cappuccino was close to the house, and very good.  We learned that Rome has a fair amount of wifi, but it is almost always locked and you have to get a password.  We became fairly adept at using the Metro, the underground subway, along with the regional trains.

The Colosseum was magnificent, and we spent several hours there.  We were able to skip the lines by buying something called a Roma Pass which gets you into 2 museums free and allows you to ride all of the city transportation free for 3 days.  The cost was 36 euro.

We also walked to Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.  The fountain was in the middle of some rennovation, so...no water.  We skipped throwing coins over our shoulder, but we saw plenty of other people doing it.  The Pantheon was packed and we sat on the steps enjoying music from a guitarist and cellist who were there playing.

We sat outside at a nearby cafe to do some people watching and met two women about our age from Nevada. Great fun!  Meeting people is one of our favorite parts of a trip like this.

We were treated to a wonderful meal of pasta with eggplant when we got back to Farfa's house.  He is a great cook and quite a character.   We received the Rome visitor tutorial on gelato and took Farfa to one of his favorite places, owned by a woman named Carla.  I ha Lemonata di Sorrento and Noce di Sorrento a Fiche and Patty had Fruti di B and

Full day.  We are tired but happy.  Ciao!
